1.lesson的基本意思是“功课,课”,也可指具体的“一堂课,一节课”,有时还可指课文,引申可表示“教训,经验”或“榜样”。用于宗教可指教堂礼拜中诵读的“圣经选段”。
2.lesson作“功课,课”解时多用于复数形式;作“一堂课,一节课”解时多用于单数形式;作“教训,经验”“榜样”解是可数名词。

［误］  listen to sb's lesson
［正］  attend a lesson given by sb
［正］  take lessons from〔of，with〕 sb
［析］  “听某人的课”可以说attend a lesson given by sb 或take lessons from〔of，with〕 sb,但不能说listen to sb's lesson。
2.老师正在上音乐课。
［误］  The teacher is giving a lesson of music.
［正］  The teacher is giving a lesson in music.
［析］  表示“上…的课”,应该说give a lesson in ...,其中介词不能换为of。注意用介词on也可指“…的课”,但所指的范围更小,如a French lesson on irregular verbs(一堂讲授不规则动词的法语课)。
