1.deceive的基本意思是“欺骗”“欺诈”,通常指为达到邪恶的目的而有意地采取不正当手段,如弄虚作假、颠倒黑白、编造骗局、设置圈套等手段进行“欺骗”,使某人信以为真,也可指偶然一次地混淆。
2.deceive主要用作及物动词,接代词或表示人的名词作宾语。deceive的宾语后可接in表示“对…感到失望”; 接into表示“骗某人相信”; 接with表示“以…欺骗(某人)”。
3.表示“骗某人做某事”不可用deceive sb. to do sth.结构,应该用deceive sb into sth/v-ing结构。
4.deceive作“欺骗成功”解时,可用于进行时态,以表示“欺骗”这一行为正在奏效。
5.deceive用于被动句(后面一般接in)或后面接反身代词的句型中,往往只表示“弄错”“失望”,不一定有“欺骗”的意思。
