1.approve的基本意思是“具有或表达赞同意见”。主要用于上级对下级的计划、建议等表示赞同或在程序上“批准”或“通过”。有时可含有“尊敬”“钦佩”的意味。
2.approve作“赞成,同意”解用作不及物动词时,常与of连用,这时其后可接包括人在内的名词、代词或动名词作宾语。
3.approve作“批准,通过”解时用作及物动词,可接表示物或事物的名词、代词或动名词作宾语。注意approve不接人称代词或表示人的名词作宾语,也不接动词不定式。
